(Indianapolis, Ind.) - For the fifth straight year, state campgrounds are going to be full for the Labor Day weekend.
The Indiana Department of Natural Resources says State Park and Reservoirs campgrounds are nearly booked up, with just a few campsites available at Charlestown State Park, Lincoln State Park and O'Bannon Woods State Park.
DNR officials said yesterday they're also seeing strong demand for campsites for Halloween.
"Fall weekends have become popular for camping," said Christie Wilmoth, DNR reservation system program manager. "Campsite reservations for Halloween and other fall festival weekends are already filling, so those who want to mix treat-or-treating and camping, or take part in one or more of the many other fall special events should make plans now."
Picnic shelters can be reserved for a day at a DNR property at www.camp.IN.gov or 1-866-6CAMPIN (1-866-622-6746).
