(Union, Ky.) – The Boone County Sheriff’s Department says a Covington, Kentucky man was killed in a Sunday morning crash in Union.
At about 8:10 a.m. on August 28, two vehicles collided in the intersection of U.S. 42 and Mount Zion Road.
Deputies say Vance Coyle, 32, of Erlanger was driving a 2004 Ford Explorer SUV northbound on U.S. 42 in the curb lane approaching the intersection. At the same time, Timothy Lane, 32 of Covington was on westbound on Mount Zion Road driving a 2006 Audi A4 waiting at the traffic light.
The initial investigation revealed the light changed to green for Mount Zion Road traffic and Lane started into the intersection to make a left turn onto southbound U.S. 42. Coyle didn’t stop and collided with Lane.
Investigators believe Coyle may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
Lane was pronounced dead after being flown by Air Care to University Hospital in Cincinnati.
The collision remains under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department Accident Reconstruction Unit.
