(West Harrison, Ind.) - One person was hospitalized when a dump truck crashed on Interstate 74 in Dearborn County Tuesday afternoon.
A 1991 Ford 9000 dump truck driven by 54-year-old Michael Waters, of Williamsburg, Oh., was eastbound on I-74 at approximately 5:45 p.m. when another vehicle was merging onto eastbound I-74 from exit 169 (Brookville/Harrison exit), according to Indiana State Police.
Waters told troopers the merging vehicle cut him off forcing him to slam on his brakes which caused him to lose control of the dump truck. The dump truck then went into the median where it overturned trapping Waters.
Harrison Fire Department extricated Waters and he was transported to University Hospital in Cincinnati by Harrison EMS with non-life threatening injuries.
The other vehicle was not identified and has not been located.
The crash remains under investigation. Tpr. Kyle Stovall was assisted at the scene by other troopers and Harrison Fire and EMS.
