(Pimento, Ind.) - The FBI, Bloomington Police and Indiana State Police are honing in on an area of a landfill near Terre Haute as they look for clues in the disappearance of Lauren Spierer.
Investigators began their search at Sycamore Ridge Landfill in Vigo County Tuesday. Bloomington Police say it could take two weeks to search the area.
The portion of the landfill being searched has been identified as where trash from Bloomington was dumped around the time of Spierer’s disappearance.
Aircraft including news helicopters are banned from flying 2,000 feet or lower over the search area.
The 20-year-old Indiana University student vanished early in the morning on June 3.
