(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Several local family farms are among 72 being honored for their longevity at the Indiana State Fair today.
Lieutenant Gov. Becky Skillman and Indiana Agriculture Director Joe Kelsay will present the families with the Hoosier Homestead award.
The award recognizes families with farms that have been owned by the same family for 100 years or more. The Centennial Award is given for 100 years, Sesquicentennial Award for 150 years, and the Bicentennial Award for 200 years.
Local family farms receiving the Hoosier Homestead honor include:
Seely-Hall Farm (1906)
Ziegler Farm (1836)
Richard Hansen (1857)
The award ceremony will take place in the Indiana Farm Bureau Building Auditorium at the Indiana State Fair.
