(Aurora, Ind.) - At least two local communities will make a showing against crime Tuesday evening.
Both the cities of Aurora and Rising Sun are celebrating the National Night Out 2011. Residents are asked to leave their porch lights on for four reasons:
-Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness.
-Generate support for and participation in local anticrime programs.
-Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community participation.
-Send a message to criminals that neighborhoods are fighting back.
The Aurora Police Department is also hosting a National Night Out block party with food, games, music, and a police K9 team demonstration on Main Street from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m.
Dearborn County Citizens Against Substance Abuse will also be kicking off their "Be the Wall" campaign to fight underage drinking.
