(Oldenburg, Ind.) - A police chase involving teens on a joyride spanned three counties Thursday morning.
A 17-year-old male and 14-year-old female were residents at the YES Home in Manchester. Just after midnight Thursday, the two locked an employee in a closet, then took her car, according to the Batesville Herald Tribune.
The stolen car was later spotted by Milan Police. An officer attempted to make a traffic stop on the car when a pursuit began.
Milan Police Chief Gary Skaggs said the chase was far from high-speed, only reaching between 50 and 60 MPH. Even losing a tire after Batesville Police deployed stop sticks on State Road 46, the teens refused to stop.
The pursuit continued all the way to Harveys Branch Road near Oldenburg. That’s where the teens bailed and were finally arrested.
The teens are now staying at the Dearborn County Juvenile Detention Center in Lawrenceburg with charges pending.
The female suspect was treated for a minor head injury at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville.
