(Aurora, Ind.) – Thousands of dollars in brass items were stolen in a burglary from the Lawrenceburg Manchester Sparta Conservancy Water District.
Aurora Police were called at about 7:42 a.m. Thursday to the district office at 1406 Sunnyside Avenue.
Investigators say the burglar, or burglars, forced their way into the building. Between $7,000 and $10,000 worth of items were swiped. They included ¾ inch brass fittings, brass saddles used for tapping in the water mains (circular with sizes ranging from two, three, four, and six inches in diameter), and brass meter valves for water meters. The items were new.
The case remains under investigation at this time by the Aurora Police Department with assistance from the Dearborn County Sheriffs Department Crime Scene Investigations Section.
