(Aurora, Ind.) - Approximately 250 cyclists will descend on Southwestern Ohio and Southeast Indiana this weekend as part of the Midwest Regional Masters Championship Cycling event, a series of three cycling races taking place in Cleves, Ohio, North Bend, Ohio and Aurora, Indiana, representatives from the Dearborn County Convention, Visitor & Tourism Bureau announced today. The weekend will include a time trial on Saturday in Cleves, road race on Saturday in North Bend, and criterium (or short-course, city-street race) on Sunday in Aurora.
Sponsored by USA Cycling, the event is open to all cyclists in the Masters rider category (30 and older) whose USA Cycling license is in any of the eligible twelve Midwest Region states. Spectators are invited and encouraged to attend, with parking available at the Aurora Lions Club on Second Street.
Sunday’s races in Aurora will include a six-turn, .7-mile loop with one small climb, a two-block downhill and plenty of historic scenery as riders race along the streets of this charming 19th-century Ohio River town.
The cyclists will race in eight racing categories throughout the day on Sunday, with the first race beginning at 11am and the last starting at 4:40pm. Podium presentations and awards ceremonies will follow each stage and race of the criterium.
