(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Hoosiers will soon be getting their income tax bill from the state Department of Revenue.
The state will start mailing the bills out next week to more than 90,000 people who indicated on their income tax returns they owed taxes but have not yet paid the bill.
The bills collectively total more than $50 million, and the state warns if the bills aren't paid by the due date they could be turned over to the county sheriff for a tax warrant.
Revenue agency Commissioner John Eckart said they anticipate most of those who receive the bill will either pay in full or work out a payment plan.
