(Madison, Ind.) - An 80-year-old has been charged with murder after allegedly shooting a man to death because he did not approve of the victim's relationship with his daughter.
A 911 call came into the Madison Police Department at 6:29 p.m. on Tuesday night saying a man had been shot in the 200 block of Crestwood Drive.
Investigators say 57-year-old Harry K. Harris was found shot once officers arrived to the scene. Harris was rushed to King's Daughters emergency room and was pronounced dead at 7:10 p.m.
Police say 80-year-old Boyd D. Wright Jr. was taken to KDH ER for treatment of self-inflicted knife wounds. Once he was released, Wright was arrested for murder and transported to the Jefferson County Jail to await his initial hearing.
According to the Madison Police Department, Wright told them Harris was dating his daughter and he did not approve of their relationship. Wright said that he saw Harris sitting in a chair he went into his bedroom and got his shotgun. Wright then said he went back into the other room and shot Harris in the back.
