(Aurora, Ind.) – Three juveniles are in police custody while a box store is left to repair its roof following a weird incident in Aurora Tuesday morning.
Aurora Police say officers were called to the Big Lots store at the River Creek Village Shopping Center, 888 Green Boulevard-U.S. 50, at about 5:07 a.m. for a report of a person who had fallen through the ceiling.
Store employees who were in the store at the time told officers they witnessed the person fall.
Investigators say the juvenile had been on the roof and entered a vent. The juvenile fell through the duct work and onto the floor below.
The juvenile ran off after he saw the employees.
Police would later take three suspected juveniles into custody. One was apprehended by an assisting Lawrenceburg Police officer about a block south on Green Boulevard at 5:23.
The second juvenile was arrested by Aurora Police at the nearby Wal-Mart at about 8:30. Wal-Mart employees had heard the news reports about the incident at Big Lots and became suspicious of the juvenile who they thought might have been involved.
Each of the two juveniles who were caught were treated by the Aurora Emergency Rescue Unit.
A third juvenile has been identified in connection, but remains at large. He was last seen in the area behind Big Lots.
Aurora Police say the names of the juveniles will not be released unless approved by a court.
Meanwhile, Big Lots is left to make extensive repairs to their building. Management could not give a dollar amount.
“Thanks to the rapid response and diligence of the officers of the Aurora and Lawrenceburg Police Departments, this case has been successfully resolved,” said Aurora Chief of Police Bryan Fields.
Aurora Fire Department, Aurora Communications Center, and Dearborn County Communications assisted.
