(Aurora, Ind.) - A wanted person usually tries to avoid the police, but a Lawrenceburg man was arrested on a warrant after he bummed a ride from an officer Monday.
Aurora Police Chief Bryan Fields says Forrest Clinger frantically waved down Sgt. Michael Prudenti on Wilson Creek Road where Prudenti was returning from assisting another Police agency with an alarm call. Clinger asked Prudenti for a ride to work because the person who was supposed to take him had failed to show up.
Prudenti agreed to give Clinger a ride to work, but checked his identification for warrants.
While en route to Clinger’s workplace, Prudenti was alerted by dispatchers that Clinger had an active arrest warrant for his arrest.
Instead of going to work, Clinger was arrested and given a ride to the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center where he was incarcerated.
Clinger, 26, was wanted out of the Dearborn County Superior Court I for probation violation.
