The lake at Versailles State Park.
(Versailles, Ind.) - The Versailles State Park can be better.
That’s what State Rep. Randy Frye (R-Greensburg) says. Frye will host a public forum next week where citizens can give their input on ways to improve Versailles State Park and enhance its lake.
“The goal of this meeting is to listen to constituents and gather their feedback on ways to better utilize Versailles State Park. ,” Rep. Frye said.
Frye proposed legislation earlier this year to study turning the lake into a larger reservoir, but that bill died because of the five-week walkout by House Democrats. Frye’s proposal would have created an 11-person task force to look into the benefits and cost of creating a dam to provide a larger lake in central Ripley County.
Frya said in March he would not be opposed to reintroducing the bill in 2012.
The meeting will be Wednesday, July 13 at the Ripley County Courthouse Annex, 115 North Main Street, Versailles, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m.
