(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - An Ohio lawmaker is coming under fire after being arrested for drunk driving in Dearborn County.
WLWT-TV reports State Rep. Robert Mecklenborg was arrested during the early morning hours of April 23.
An Indiana State Police trooper stopped Mecklenborg for a non-working headlight on U.S. 50 near Lorey Lane in Greendale. The trooper then noticed Mecklenborg smelled of alcohol and had glassy, bloodshot eyes.
Mecklenborg has pleaded not guilty to a charge of Operative a Vehicle While Intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor. His next court appearance is July 26.
The three-term Republican state representative has not commented on the alleged OVI.
Mecklenborg’s District 30 includes much of western Hamilton County.
