(Switzerland County, Ind.) – Accident investigators think a medical condition may have been a factor in a deadly crash Tuesday afternoon in Switzerland County.
Indiana State Police say John J. Perry, 62, of Anderson, Indiana, was driving a minivan on State Road 156 near Tapp Road around 4:40 p.m. when for unknown reasons the van left the roadway and struck a tree head-on.
Perry died at the scene.
His passenger and granddaughter, seven-year-old Emma Perry, also of Anderson, was taken to Carroll County Memorial Hospital to be treated for a broken arm and other non-life threatening injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
Indiana State Police were assisted at the scene by the Switzerland County Sheriff’s Department, Florence Fire Department, and the Switzerland County Coroner’s office.
