(Aurora, Ind.) - A trip to the recycling dumpsters turned into a painful experience for an Aurora woman Tuesday afternoon.
Aurora Police say Fern Wingate, 79, was loading paper into the dumpster in the Wal-Mart parking lot when another woman crashed her car into the dumpster around 1:23 p.m.
Wingate’s left foot was pinned beneath the dumpster because of the impact.
Aurora firefighters used the Jaws of Life to lift the dumpster and free Wingate, who was taken by Aurora Life Squad to Dearborn County Hospital with a broken foot and severe lacerations.
Police say the driver, Kathleen Turner, 81, of Lawrenceburg, was pulling up to the dumpster and inadvertently hit the accelerator instead of the brake.
