John D. Burton, Jr.
(Aurora, Ind.) – The search will resume bright and early Tuesday for an autistic child missing in Aurora.
Seven-year-old John Burton, Jr. was reported missing from his home at 451 Park Avenue at about 11:45 Sunday morning.
Volunteers wishing to help with the search are asked to meet at the Aurora City Park, just a block away from Burton’s home, at 8:00 a.m. Searchers will be asked to sign in and receive and update on the search status.
Aurora Police say dozens of people have been taking part in the search crew, including bloodhounds from Indianapolis.
Complicating the search is Burton’s non-verbal autism. He could be hiding and is not likely to talk to strangers.
Hogan Creek is also nearby. Dearborn County Water Rescue crews were looking in and near it Sunday.
John was last seen wearing only a pair gray swimming trunks. He is about 4’10” tall, with a thin build, and has a blonde mohawk haircut.
Anybody who sees Burton or has information on his disappearance is asked to call Aurora Police at (812) 926-1101 or 911 immediately.
