(Greensburg, Ind.) - A mother tells police how she murdered her own 12-year-old son.

Tasha Parsons, 29, was arrested Friday after police found her son, Devin Parsons, dead in their home on East Washington Street in Greensburg.

On Monday, the Decatur County Prosecutor’s Office charged Parsons with Murder.

Parsons told investigators she beat the child for several hours with her hands, feet, a belt and a metal tray. He eventually lost consciousness.

She said Devin had taken her Percocet pills and refused to give them back to her or tell her where they were.

Meanwhile, Parsons’ 30-year-old boyfriend, Waldo Jones, Jr. is facing neglect charges.  He was home at the time of the beating but did not contact police. He later told acquaintances that the boy was dead in their home.

Blood was found on Jones’ clothing, but court documents say he admitted to intervening a couple times to help treat the boy’s injuries.

An autopsy on Devin Parsons’ body is scheduled for Tuesday.
