(Indianapolis, Ind.) - An accident on an Indianapolis interstate ramp involving a truck claimed the life of a Harrison woman early Wednesday morning.
The crash happened shortly after 4:40 a.m. on the ramp from Interstate 74 to I-465 when a 2006 GMC box truck owned by Cincinnati Donuts – carrying a load of donuts – crashed into a concrete barrier.
Indiana State Police troopers said the impact moved the barrier back several feet and resulted in the truck rolling onto the passenger side before it skidded off the road.
Troopers say the driver, William Collett, 40, of Harrison, had fallen asleep at the wheel. His passenger and wife, Karen Collett, 39, died at the scene.
The accident occurred in a construction zone, but troopers say that was not a factor in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
