(Batesville, Ind.) – Providing a warm bed and whipping up breakfast for her guests have earned a Batesville woman some special recognition.
Kathy Schuerman owns and runs the Stonebridge Inn and Spa, a bed and breakfast on Walnut Street in Batesville. Last week, Indiana Lieutenant Governor Becky Skillman announced Schuerman as the recipient of a Hoosier Hospitality Award.
According to Skillman, Schuerman renovated a 1900s mansion and in 2006 opened it to visitors.
The Stonebridge Inn was recently featured in Midwest Living magazine’s “Best B and Bs in the Midwest.”
Tourism is a big part of Indiana’s economy. The industry generates $10 billion each year while employing 260,000 people.
“In today’s economy, Indiana tourism has a lot to offer. We’re working to promote the great value of vacations and getaways close to home. People still want to get out and travel, despite tighter budgets, and we’re helping them find the perfect fit for their getaway – whether they’re looking for excitement or relaxation,” Skillman said.
