(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Attention Indiana property owners. Here’s a reminder that Tuesday, May 10 is the deadline to pay your property tax bill.
The spring installment is due to your local county treasurer’s office by the end of business. The payments can also be mailed in if they’re postmarked Tuesday.
Ninety of Indiana’s 92 counties mailed their tax bills out on time this year according to the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance. All southeast Indiana counties were on that list.
“On-time tax bills mean lower costs for 2500 of the State’s cities, towns, townships, schools, libraries, and other special districts,” said DLGF Commissioner Brian Bailey. “On-time billing means on-time tax payments for these units of government, allowing them to function without costly borrowing.”
A five percent penalty will apply for any payments as many as 30 days late, and a ten percent penalty will apply after that.
The next installment of tax bills is due November 10.
