(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – A man is facing serious charges after he pulled a gun inside a Lawrenceburg bar this past weekend.
Police and sheriff’s deputies were called to the Pirates Den Bar on U.S. 50-Eads Parkway early Sunday morning.
According to a court affidavit, Dennis Roof, of Greendale, was in an altercation which led to him allegedly pulling out a handgun and pointing it at another man, multiple witnesses told police.
Other patrons at the bar managed to disarm Roof and hold him down until police arrived.
Roof said he was talking with a former girlfriend and was just trying to leave the bar when he was assaulted.
“Roof does state that the gun belongs to him and that he ‘always carries it,’” the affidavit read. Roof said he had a permit to carry the gun, but denied pointing the weapon only acknowledging it may have fallen out of his pocket.
Roof, 32, is charged with Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon, Pointing a Firearm, Battery, and Public Intoxication. He is out of jail on bond.
