(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - It’s not official yet, but this April may become the wettest month ever in the Cincinnati area.
The National Weather Service says there have been 13.03 inches of rain and forecasters were expecting up to another inch of rain Wednesday night by midnight.
Once last night’s rainfall is counted, we may surpass the 13.7 inches from January 1937 as the wettest month ever.
Currently, this month ranks as the second-wettest ever for Cincinnati. Third was March 1964 when 12.18 inches fell.
The Ohio River at Cincinnati will remain over flood stage of 52 feet until early Monday morning. The river was at 53 feet as of 7:00 a.m. Thursday.
At Markland Dam the river could rescind to below flood stage by Saturday. It was measured at 51.5 feet Thrusday morning, a half-foot over flood stage.
