(Versailles, Ind.) – A single-vehicle crash put two Dearborn County men in the hospital early Saturday morning.
Kenneth W. Jackson III, 19, of Moores Hill, was driving a 1996 Toyota pickup truck on U.S. 50 near the entrance to the Versailles State Park when the truck crossed the center line while approaching a curve around 4:30 a.m. It left the road, travelling through a ditch, striking a guardrail and tree, and coming to a rest partially in a creek.
Jackson and his passenger, Lucas W. Shelton, 23, of Dillsboro, were trapped inside.
First responders freed the men. They were each taken to Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville where they were treated and released.
U.S. 50 had to be shut down for about three hours because of the accident which remains under investigation by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Ripley County Medic, Versailles Fire/Extrication, Rescue 69, and Rescue 30.
