School Bus(Mt. Carmel, Ind.) – A teenage girl was seriously injured when she was hit by a minivan as she walked to board the school bus Tuesday morning.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, 15-year-old Hayle Elza was running across State Road 252 in Mt. Carmel when she was hit by a 2005 Dodge Caravan driven by Donnielle Henson.

Henson saw Elza and hit the brakes, however, the vehicle did not stop in time. Elza was thrown 75 feet from the impact.

Elza was taken by Franklin County EMS to McCullough-Hyde Hospital in Oxford and later transferred to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. Her current medical condition is unknown.
