Former East Central High School teacher Clinton Hott turned himself in at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center Tuesday.
Hott had been indicted by a grand jury Monday for Child Solicitation, Child Exploitation, and Obstruction of Justice.
The 36-year-old exchanged sexual text messages with a female eighth grade student when he was an assistant band director at the high school in 2009 and 2010. Some of the messages included photos of Hott's genitalia.
Dearborn County Prosecutor Aaron Negangard said there is no evidence the two had a physical relationship.
During his initial appearance Tuesday, Dearborn County Superior Court II Judge Sally Blankenship ordered that Hott be held on a $75,000 surety and $35,000 cash bond.
Hott was not currently working at the school district when the indictment came. He was among a number of teachers whose contracts were not renewed in budget cutting moves by the district after the 2009-2010 school year.
