(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – The hometown underdog used his skill, and a little luck, to win the 2011 World Poker Tour Hollywood Poker Open at Hollywood Casino.
The tournament ended about 2:30 Thursday morning as 34-year-old Western Hills resident Mike Scarborough beat poker guru and hall of famer Erik Seidel with a jack-high straight in heads-up play at the final table.
The win brings Scarborough his first WPT title and new recognition as one of the game’s up-and-comers.
For winning the four-day event at the Lawrenceburg riverboat casino, Scarborough takes home $273,664, a WPT bracelet, and a spot at the WPT World Championship later this year.
He immediately donated $2,500 of his winnings to the ALS Foundation for Cure, which Hollywood Casino will match.
