(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Supporters of school reform are rallying at the Indiana Statehouse this afternoon.
There have been a number of protests against the reforms by union organizations, but this is among the first in support of those measures.
Governor Mitch Daniels and State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Bennett are pushing proposals to expand charter schools and merit pay for teachers.
Some of the reform legislation partly led Indiana House Democrats to strike from session for over a month, returning just this past Monday.
The rally titled “Ed Reform Rocks” will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the North Atrium of the statehouse. It is backed by School Choice Indiana, the Indiana Chamber of Commerce, and other organizations.
