(Rising Sun, Ind.) - A Rising Sun soldier has been named the American Legion of Indiana’s Military Person of the Year.
Army Chief Warrant Officer Darin Scudder was given the award in the Active Duty category in February. He was nominated for the state award recognizing exemplary service to community, state, and nation by members of Rising Sun American Legion Post #59.
According to the Vevay Reveille-Enterprise, the 1996 Rising Sun High School graduate is a Blackhawk helicopter pilot with the Army. He has served two tours in Iraq since joining the military in 2001.
In addition to his service in Iraq, Scudder has also flown medical humanitarian missions in Nicaragua.
Scudder is currently stationed at Ft. Rucker, Alabama with the 212th Aviation Regiment.
