On 3-7-2011 Aurora Fire Department responded to a structure fire 5826 Briarwood Dr. Aurora, IN 47001, the Patricia Kraus residence. Passerby pulled the homeowner from the front porch . She was taken to Dearborn County Hospital by Aurora EMS and treated for smoke inhalation. Her condition at this time is unknown. Fire officers arriving on scene found a fire that rapidly spread throughout the house within a minute of arrival. Fire fighters could not make entry into the residence due to the floor collapsing. No other persons were hurt in the fire. Damage is estimated around $200,000. The cause is under investigation by the Aurora Fire Department.
Assisting at the scene were Manchester, Lawrenceburg, and Hogan Township Fire Departments, Aurora EMS, Aurora Fire Department Auxiliary, and Dillsboro Fire Department providing coverage for the on scene departments.

(Aurora, Ind.) – An elderly woman was hurt in a house fire late Monday night in Aurora.
The blaze took place at a home on Briarwood Drive around 11:00 p.m.
Flames tore through the home as the elderly resident was able to make it out. She suffered smoke inhalation but did not go to the hospital.
Fire crews from Aurora and Manchester were on the scene until 4:00 a.m. The home is considered a complete loss.
A cause of the fire remains under investigation.
