(Milan, Ind.) - Taking car parts from a scrap yard has landed two local teens in the Ripley County jail with a third on the lam.
Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies were called to investigate last Friday at about 2:43 a.m. when a truck was seen parked outside an abandoned residence on East County Road 200 North in Milan.
A detective watched as the three teens allegedly stole car parts from nearby Dave’s Auto Salvage. They removed several radiators from old vehicles.
As two of the teens made their way back to the truck, police moved in and arrested Kraig W. King, of Lawrenceburg, and Shane Mosier, of Moores Hill.
The third suspect managed to run from police. His current whereabouts are unknown. The sheriff’s office did not give his name in a press release.
Deputies later obtained a search warrant for the truck and found a large amount of copper wire inside. It was later discovered that the copper had been stolen from a home in Dearborn County.
Charged with Theft, King, 18, and Mosier, 19, are each held at the Ripley County Jail on a $1,050 bond.
