(Aurora, Ind.) - Indiana State Police credit a seatbelt with helping a Milan woman escape serious injury in a crash on State Road 350 Monday afternoon.
Joan Kinnett was driving her 1988 Honda CRX near South Dearborn High School in Aurora at about 3:30 when she went off the road, then overcorrected.
The SUV overturned into a ditch and came to a rest on its top, however, Kinnett escaped with just a few bumps and bruises.
Kinnett was examined at the scene by Aurora Life Squad and refused transport to the hospital.
“The use of the seat belt definitely prevented her from suffering more serious injuries,” said ISP Sgt. Matt Burkhardt .
The crash remains under investigation.
State police were assisted at the scene by Dearborn and Ripley County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Aurora Fire Department.
