(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - Inbound rain showers will make for prime flood conditions this weekend.
The National Weather Service is calling for up to two inches of rain beginning Friday and through the next 48 hours. Occasional thunderstorms will also pass through the area.
The entire tri-state will be under a Flood Watch beginning Friday evening through Saturday evening.
Both the Ohio and Great Miami Rivers are expected to reach close to flood stage by Sunday.
Low-lying areas along the Great Miami River may be presented with the biggest flood threat. The river at Miamitown is at 12 feet early Friday morning, but is expected to crest at 17 feet – one foot over flood stage – Sunday evening.
The Ohio River at Markland Dam is at 44.3 feet, well below the flood stage of 51 feet. It is anticipated to crest at 49 feet Sunday.
The Whitewater River at Brookville will peak at 11.3 feet Sunday, far below the 20 foot flood stage.
