(Jennings County, Ind.) - An 18-year-old who stabbed three police guards while trying to escape jail has been sentenced.

James Smith was ordered to serve 76 years behind bars after surveillance video showed him cutting a guard with a laundry hanger-made blade.

Smith had originally been behind bars for robbery until he received attempted murder and kidnapping charges.
