(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) - More than 500,000 Indiana students will be filling in A, B, C, or D as they sit down to test over the next couple weeks.
The Indiana Statewide Testing for Educational Progress, or ISTEP+, math and English portions will be taken by schools across the state beginning Monday through March 9.
Results of the test are slated to be released May 23. Those numbers will determine which schools and districts meet Adequate Yearly Progress under federal No Child Left Behind standards.
The Indiana Department of Education has set a goal of 90 percent of students passing the ISTEP+ by 2012. In 2010, 75 percent of Hoosier students passed math while 73 percent passed English.
Before each day of testing, students are advised to get a full night’s sleep and eat a healthy breakfast.
You can find a database of 2010 test scores on the Indiana Department of Education website at http://compass.doe.in.gov/Dashboard.aspx?view=STATE&val=0&desc=STATE.
