(Fayette County, Ind.) - A plane crashed just outside of Connersville killing its pilot Wednesday night.
The downed aircraft was discovered on Henry Road between County Road 400 and County Road 250 North just east of Connersville, about 2.5 miles from the Connersville Municipal Airport.
A civilian first reported the plane crash around 8:16 p.m.
There's no word if there are any survivors, or what caused the plane to crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the deadly crash with the assistance of Indiana State Police.
“There was no fire, and the severity of the crash prohibited the determination if there were any passengers other than the pilot on board. The make and model of the aircraft also could not immediately be determined,” the state police said in a news release.
Investigators say it could be several days before the name of the pilot is released to the public as the coroner works to make a positive ID.
The cause of the crash, flight origin, and destination will be determined, and released by the FAA and NTSB after they have completed their investigation.
