(Boone County, Ky.) – Four people – three of them young children – were taken to the hospital following a crash in Union Tuesday morning.
Boone County Sheriff’s deputies say Michael Canter, 35, was driving his pickup truck on Killarney Drive near the intersection with Frogtown Road at about 9:05 when he went off the road and then struck another a Pike Electric utility truck parked on the side of the road.
Canter was taken to University Hospital. Three children in the car – McKenzie Canter, 7, Dominick Canter, 7, and Lane Williams, 10 – were taken to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital with what police called non-life threatening injuries.
Deputies say neither Canter nor any of the children were wearing seat belts. Excessive speed is also cited as a possible factor.
Aircare was requested but could not make it to the crash because of the weather.
The crash remains under investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Office.
