(Ripley County, Ind.) - An Osgood man is in trouble after he not only had components of a meth lab in his truck, but also his girlfriend’s daughter.
Indiana State Police troopers stopped Jason T. Burkholder, 41, in his 2000 Dodge Ram on County Road 450 North in Ripley County for a minor traffic violation Sunday night.
Trooper Jimmy Wells found that Burkholder had a suspended drivers’ license and the registration on the truck was false.
Once Wells told Burkholder he would have to search then impound the truck, he took off on foot into some nearby woods. He surrendered to police a short time later.
Back at the truck, officers would find evidence of a meth lab and the eight-year-old daughter of Burkholder’s girlfriend.
Currently held at the Ripley County Jail, Burkholder is charged with Manufacturing Methamphetamine (Class B felony), Possession of Paraphernalia (Class A misdemeanor), and Resisting Law Enforcement (Class A misdemeanor). Indiana State Police say more charges could be filed because the child was also in the truck.
