(Batesville, Ind.) - An Indiana State Police trooper suffered minor injuries after a crash Thursday morning on Interstate 74.
Trooper Clifton Elston, 33, was entering the westbound lane of the highway from Batesville Exit 149 when his cruiser was rear-ended by a 2011 Nissan driven by Deeana Y. White, 31, of Largo, Fla.
Elston told fellow troopers he was entering the interstate at about 45-50 MPH when the accident happened.
Elston, who joined the Indiana State Police in 2007, was taken to Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville where he was treated and released for a bump on his head and minor abrasions.
White was not hurt. She has not been cited, but the accident remains under investigation by the state police.

Update posted at 9:29 a.m.:
Indiana State Police at the Versailles Post report the left-hand westbound lane of I-74 have reopened at the 148 mile marker. The right-hand lane remains closed.
Motorists should slow down and use caution as they approach the accident past the Batesville exit.

(Batesville, Ind.) - Interstate 74 in Ripley County is shut down after an accident involving an Indiana state trooper.
Indiana State Police say the accident happened around 7:30 when a vehicle rear-ended the trooper’s cruiser in the westbound lanes at the 148 mile marker, just east of Batesville.
At this time it appears any injuries are minor.
Troopers say motorists should use caution the area.
