(Carroll County, Ky.) – Kentucky State Police are investigating a deadly crash that nobody knew happened until 39 hours later.
Carroll County Dispatch received a 911 call on Sunday around 2:30 a.m. from a caller reporting he had been involved in a crash.
The caller couldn’t give an accurate description of his location, so police relied on GPS data from the caller’s cell phone. They scoured the area, but were unable to locate any wreck and ended the search.
On Monday around 5:30, a passerby spotted a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee down a deep embankment along KY 389. Troopers would find 50-year-old Mitchell D. Vories, of Carrolton, dead at the scene.
Troopers have not determined if Vories was the driver or only person in the vehicle when it crashed.
