(Lawrenceburg, Ind.) – Voters in the City of Lawrenceburg will have a choice for mayor in the November election.
More than 20 candidates have filed to run for various city and town offices in Dearborn County. The filing period for city elections began January 19 and does not end until Friday, February 18.
Dennis R. Carr and Tim Denning have both filed as Democrats for Lawrenceburg mayor to replace Bill Cunningham, a fellow Democrat who has not filed as of Monday.
Lawrenceburg Community Schools Board member Kelly Mollaun has filed as a Republican for mayor.
Nobody has filed to run yet in Aurora, where current mayor Donnie Hastings, Jr. is currently in office.
Greendale mayor Doug Hedrick, a Democrat, has filed to run for re-election. As of Monday, he did not face any opposition from either political party.
Dearborn County Clerk of Court Phil Weaver said there is usually a rush of candidates filing at the beginning of the period, a lull in the middle, then many more who wait until the last couple days before the deadline.
In Batesville, Jim Dreyer has filed as a Republican to run against incumbent Democrat Rick Fledderman, who is seeking a third term.
