(Greendale, Ind.) - It was a patriotic, but somber scene as a local military hero arrived home Wednesday morning.
The body of 21-year-old Army Pfc. Zachary Salmon arrived at Cincinnati-Northern Kentucky International Airport from Dover Air Force Base around 9:45 a.m.
A procession led by three police motorcycles – two from the Cincinnati Police Department and one from the Lawrenceburg Police Department – rolled east on Interstate 275 across the Ohio River.
At about 10:40, the procession turned left onto Ridge Avenue. Dozens of people quietly lined the nearby sidewalk as the Hearst carrying Salmon’s body came through. It was closely followed by a black limousine transporting his family members
Onlookers waved American flags as two ladder trucks from Lawrenceburg and Greendale fire departments hoisted a larger flag over the street.
