(Dillsboro, Ind.) - A Lawrenceburg resident arrived home last week to find a burglar in her barn.

John D. Scudder, of Dillsboro, was caught red-handed trying to steal scrap metal from the barn on Wilson Creek Road in Lawrenceburg on Dec. 27.

Scudder, 39, tried to speed away in his pickup truck, but the female homeowner followed him.

Police would later find Scudder hiding at the end of Bellaire Drive. The stolen scrap was recovered from the bed of his truck.

Scudder is being held at the Dearborn County Law Enforcement Center on charges of Burglary and Theft.
