Tourism Grants Awarded To Switz Co. Events

(Vevay, Ind.) - The Switzerland County Recreation, Tourism, and Convention Commission (SCRTCC) recently approved and announced recipients of the Community Grant Program sponsored by the SCRTCC. 

 

The SCRTCC offers the Community Grant Program yearly for the purpose of promoting and encouraging tourism enhancement and development within Switzerland County.  The SCRTCC awarded grants total $35,000.00 for this cycle, up from $26,500.00 in last year's cycle.  The SCRTCC received applications totaling over $127,000.00 for the current award cycle.  The final announcement includes eight different organizations, funding twelve different projects.

 

Grant applications are received and reviewed by a grant selection committee with announcement of award recommendations having been made at the SCRTCC public board meeting in December. 

 

The following organizations have received grants:

 

  • On the River Car Show - $1,750.00

 

  • Switzerland County Historical Society, Inc - $5,000.00 - Restoration of the Thiebaud House

 

  • Vevay Main Street, Inc - $7,000.00 - First Friday

 

  • Swiss Wine Festival Inc - $10,000.00 - 2011 Swiss Wine Festival Advertising

 

  • Switzerland County Tractor & Engine Club, Inc - $1,750.00 - Sleepy Hollow/Plow Days

 

  • Region 15 Children's Advocacy Center, Inc - $1,750.00 - "Guns & Hoses' Fundraiser

 

  • Patriot/Posey Park Board - $2,000.00 - 4th of July Celebration

 

  • Patriot/Posey Park Board - $1,750.00 - Patriot Car Show

 

  • Patriot Main Street - $4000.00 - Directional Signage, Historical/info Signs, Brochures, Painting Flower Pots

 

The SCRTCC Grant Committee was thrilled with the number and quality of applications received during this cycle and wish they could have awarded more.

 

The next cycle will be announced mid-year in 2011 with application due in October 2011.
