(Versailles, Ind.) - A woman claims she was kidnapped after stopping her car along U.S. 50 in Versailles.

Indiana State Police say the 53-year-old woman came to the Versailles post around 3:00 Sunday afternoon.

She told troopers she had stopped on the highway near State Road 129 in the central Ripley County town around 12:30 Sunday afternoon when a light-skinned black man wearing dark clothing entered her vehicle through the passenger side door.

The suspect, armed with a gun, ordered the woman to drive him to Cincinnati via U.S. 50. He took about $200 from her purse before fleeing.

Troopers say the woman was not hurt.

Investigators are hoping someone may have witnessed the incident. Anybody with information is asked to call the Indiana State Police at (812) 689-5000.
