(Kenton County, Ky.) - Smoking will soon be illegal in many restaurants and workplaces in Kenton County.
Beginning April 15, 2011, the ban affects nearly every establishment, except those where people under the age of 18 are not allowed and businesses who have no employees under 18.
The Kenton County Fiscal Court voted Tuesday to pass an amended version of the proposed smoking ban. A 2-2 vote before failed to pass an ordinance that would have instituted a comprehensive ban for bars, restaurants, and workplaces.
Those places who meet the exemption will be required to post a sign near their entrance saying smoking is permitted there.
Neighboring Campbell County had passed a smoking ban just last week.
The idea of a smoking ban died in Boone County earlier this year when fiscal court members did not support it.
