(Indianapolis, Ind.) - Jobless Hoosiers will start losing extended federal unemployment benefits on Sunday.
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development said about 4,000 people will exhaust their benefits this week and won't have a voucher to file starting December 5.
Eligible Hoosiers will receive benefits for the weeks they have left on their regular state unemployment and the four federal extensions but won't be allowed to begin the next tier of those jobless benefits as of now.
Around 16,000 Indiana residents are currently receiving the extended federal benefits.
Beginning December 19 the $25 weekly federal additional payment will also expire due to federal law.
Benefit recipients can log onto http://www.in.gov/dwd/files/Remaining-Benefits.jpg to find out how to determine how many weeks they have remaining.
