For the second straight year, volunteers and businesses in Ripley County are helping erect a sprawling, impressive light display at the home of Joe Day.
Day continues to go through a bout with cancer. Last year, the illness rendered him unable to set up the decades-old display he had become known for at his home on the corner of U.S. 50 and U.S. 421 in Versailles.
Osgood resident Bill McDonald heard of Day’s situation and stepped up, gathering other volunteers to help set up the lights, signs and figures that make up the spectacle.
“Barring any unseen problems, the official lighting up of the "Y" will be Wednesday, December 1 at dusk,” said McDonald.
Organizers are hoping for a visit from Santa Claus during the lighting.
