(Sunman, Ind.) - Sunman may be the next southeast Indiana municipality to ban Spice with those violating the ordinance subject to thousands of dollars in fines.
Also known as K2, Spice is marketed as incense but causes a marijuana-like high when it is smoked. Legislation has been proposed by Indiana state lawmakers to make Spice illegal, but it won’t even be considered until the legislative session begins in January.
Versailles passed an emergency ordinance banning spice last week, and now the Sunman Town Council may do the same.
The ordinance won’t be passed until next month, however, when the council meets again.
Similar to the ban in Versailles, a fine of $2,500 would be levied against businesses who sell spice. Police would have the authority to confiscate the legal substance.
